is accepting applications for the position of

COORDINATING TEACHER

($62,267 to $91,040)

The Coordinating Teacher position requires complex thinking and problem solving to demonstrate a sense of fairness and good judgment. It requires effective communication with children, staff, parents and elementary school personnel, as well as, multitasking and re-prioritizing of job duties, competent record keeping and basic computer skills. The Coordinating Teacher works with multiple centers caring for preschool and school age students for 12-months out of the year.

Basic Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Program Director permit or be eligible for a Program Director Permit. Please see the permit information attached. Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution with successful experience as a Child Development Teacher or Head Start Teacher for a minimum of 3 years. Applicant must submit three letters of recommendation with at least one dated within the last 12 months on letterhead.

  • Complete the attached application making sure all information is correct.
  • Please include the following documentation with your application:
  1. Current resume
  2. Three letters of reference from former supervisors, one of which must be dated within the last 12 months. All reference letters must be on the agency’s official letterhead, dated and signed.
  3. Official transcripts (sealed) from all colleges attended verifying completion of a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science degree and the required Child Development units for a Program Director Permit
  4. Verification of experience working with children ages 2 years through 8 years with satisfactory evaluations for the last 3 years.
  5. If you currently hold a Child Development Program Director Permit, please include a copy.

PLEASE NOTE:

Prior to employment with the LBUSD Office of Child Development Centers, you must have the following:

  1. Fingerprint Clearance (FBI, DOJ and CACI): There is a fingerprint processing fee which will be deducted in two equal payments from your first two paychecks.
  2. Medical Clearance with required immunizations as per SB 792: measles, pertussis, and influenza.
  3. TB Clearance: Risk assessment or verification of a Mantoux skin test for tuberculosis clearance. If Mantoux skin test result is positive, then a chest x-ray is required.
  4. Original Social Security card. Required for payroll purposes. The name on your Social Security card must match the name on the government-issued identification used to verify employment eligibility.
  5. Government-issued photo ID. Required for verification of identity and eligibility to work. A list of acceptable documents is provided on the back of the I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form.
  6. Hold and maintain state and licensing requirements such as Child Mandated Reporting Certificate and Integrated Pest Management Certificate
  7. Current Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid Certification.
  8. Preventative Health & Safety: Must include nutrition and lead prevention and be taken at an EMSA approved training facility.
  9. Water Safety Course: Must be taken at an EMSA approved training facility
  10. Within the first 6 months of employment you must complete the following at your own discretion and submit proof of the following:
  • Food Handler’s Permit

You will be required to:

  1. Sign a loyalty oath.
  2. Sign a Child Abuse Information form.
  3. Provide a cashier’s check or money order payable to the “COMMISSION ON TEACHER CREDENTIALING” for $100.00, if required to apply for a permit.
