“what happened to annabell?” is a collection of unique short stories based on a similar prompt. have you ever walked through a cemetery and looked at the names, wondering who they were, and what their lives were like? it so, this is the short story collection for you. each tale is very different than the one before and the one after; there are none that are too similar. the authors contributing to this collection are very talented and their voices are strong. the sheer range in genre and theme that came from such a simple prompt is phenomenal, and it’s a very fun read! my only critique is that a few of the stories feel a bit too long and over exerted. this shouldn’t stop you from reading though! thank you to booksirens and the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed that this anthology has a common element throughout the story. Each story was what I was hoping for and I enjoyed how good the scifi elements are used. Annabell Doyle was a interesting character and I really felt for her. I can't wait to read more anthologies from this company. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

An excellent collection of short stories from a variety of creative and talented writers - all of which bring a unique twist to the prompt. I was enthralled by the dark atmosphere of stories like I Remember and The Beast, while stories like Stay Down and Bubbe in the kitchen had me smiling with their humor and light heartedness. That's not to mention the clever uses of alternative storytelling that were a welcome change of pace to the typical narrative. There truly is a story here for everybody, which is what I love about this series. Every Monday Night Anthology form 84th Street Press is better than the last and "What Happened to Annabell" is no exception. Looking forward to Dome Sweet Dome!

This anthology of short stories is based on the same prompt, a headstone for Clarence and Annabell, where Annabell’s death date has never been added. This leads to the question, “What Happened to Annabell?” Seeing how many different stories could come from the same idea was amazing. I enjoyed reading them all, but my favorite story was “Bubbe in the Kitchen.” It had a fun, quirky folklore vibe to it. If you like fantasy and horror with the occasional sci-fi vibes thrown in, then you should absolutely check out this anthology.

Thank you to BookSirens, publisher 84th Street Press, & authors Liz Leo, Stephen Folkins, Sunny Everson, Katrina Hamilton, Rachel Sterling, Amy Piedalue, Kristina Horner, Shay Lynam, Tara Theoharis, and Maria Berejan for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. A delightful anthology of nineteen short stories built around an exciting prompt - a drawing of a weathered gravestone with the names Clarence 1891-1933 and Annabell 1887-. So what exactly happened to Annabell? Each is a fascinating and unique story exploring why there is only a birth date on the gravestone for Annabell and no death date. We follow Annabell over many different genres and plots to find multiple reasons for her not to be finished with her life. I thoroughly enjoyed each story's distinctive construction of Annabell & Clarence’s relationship. I love anthologies like this one that introduces new authors to me - I look forward to reading more works by them. I highly recommend this anthology for a quick read while traveling, a lazy afternoon, or to shake up a reading slump.

Whether it be humor, horror, love, mystery, fantasy, or friendship, this anthology has something for everyone. It's an easy read but it's far from simple. Each author brings their own, unique style to their complex, beautifully written stories based around a very interesting prompt. I find myself wondering what happened to my version of Annabell as well. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A wonderfully eclectic take on the same prompt I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. The more obvious possibilities come to mind with an unfinished grave, but a whole book? Those premises are covered here (but with more heart and soul than I could ever muster), along with a whole host of heartwarming, heart wrenching, intriguing, silly, thought-provoking answers to the titular question. Well done, again, to all the authors!

Again, the Monday Night Anthology doesn’t disappoint! It’s always fun to see how a prompt can bring so many kind of stories. There’s something for everyone in there! On a personnal note, I’ll say that my favorites are Strange Hydrangeas, In This Life And The Next, The Sewing Basket, The Blue Clover Café and None The Less Immortal. Can’t wait for Dome Sweet Dome!

This was a quirky collection of short stories I won in a Goodreads Giveaway. Each story was written by a different author but was based on the common premise of what happened to Annabell. I enjoyed some stories more than others, but overall it was a great book! I liked that it was different from anything else I’ve read.

These anthologies just keep getting better and better! There is a story for everyone; some made me cry and some made me giggle. I wanted each story to be its own full book. I want more anthologies from these authors!

Annabelle and Clarence in many different stories...and timelines...and incarnations. This was a super fun book. Some stories were though provoking. Some were just plain fun. *I received a Kindle copy of this book from Goodreads Giveaways
