Stop Child Labour

A 10-year-old child, sitting by the window and thinking, what is childhood?

I have started working from the age when children just start to play.

Then again, he starts to think, what is school?

At the age when children get up early in the morning, get dressed and go to a big building, instead I am here constructing a big building.

Then he wonders, what is education?

At the age when children learn to read, start to know many languages, I am taught to make a house at the same age.

What is my fault?

Is this a limitation of being born in poverty?

People are rich because of thought and not because of money. Education helps our country to develop. Stop child labour.

According to the 2011 census, the total population of children in the age group 5-14 years in India is 259.6 million. Of these, 10.1 million (3.9% of the total child population) are working as either main workers or marginal workers. In addition, more than 42.7 million children in India are out of school.

Although the good news is that between 2001 and 2011, child labor in India have decreased by 2.6 million, although the decline is more visible in rural areas while the number of child labor in urban areas has increased. This is a sign of the increasing engagement of children as house maids. Child labor has different effects in both rural and urban India. If any child feels that s/he is becoming a victim of child labor, then they can ask help by calling this helpline no - 1098. This helpline number is open 24X7 and 365 days.
